Gray Code State Transition Protocol
Also: Gray Code State Transition Protocol — Ether Layer Failover Memory
Protocolverbatimlex:gray-code-state-transition-protocol
State management protocol using Gray code principles to ensure data integrity during complex operational transitions in the Ether Layer. Gray code property: only one logical bit changes at a time between consecutive states. Applied to agent failover: when an agent crashes mid-execution, the Ether Layer uses Gray code-inspired single-bit state transitions to write the current state to local cache without corrupting the partial state. On recovery, the system reads the last valid Gray code state and resumes from exactly that point. Prevents the 'split-brain' problem where a crashed agent leaves the system in an ambiguous half-written state. Complements exponential backoff retry logic — Gray Code handles the state write, exponential backoff handles the retry schedule.
